Important Facts About Gas Top-Up
💡 Gas doesn’t “run out” naturally - If your unit needs frequent top-ups, there’s a leak that needs to be fixed. Otherwise, it’s just wasting money.
⚠️ Don’t mix gas types - R22 and R410A/R32 use different pressures and oils. Never let anyone put the wrong gas in your unit.
Signs You Might Need Gas Top-Up
- Aircond blowing warm or less cold air
- Unit runs continuously without reaching set temperature
- Ice forming on the evaporator coil
- Higher electricity bills than usual
- Hissing sound near the unit (possible leak)
When Gas Top-Up Won’t Help
Sometimes low cooling isn’t about gas:
- Dirty filters/coils - Restricts airflow, reducing efficiency
- Blocked condenser - Outdoor unit can’t release heat
- Faulty compressor - Needs repair, not gas
